Classical Italian and Roman houses have influenced house styles around the Western world for centuries. In the United States from very early on in our beginnings Italian architectural styles, with its roots imbedded in classicism has had wide appeal and is very popular even unto today. Roman style houses, the first courtyard houses, set the pattern for houses from the Roman times up to today. Palladio, the great Italian architect set the standard for houses that architects today still emulate.
